Smith and Cherokee Counties have some of the highest infant mortality rates in Texas. The leading cause of infant death is preterm birth. Together, we can build a safer, healthier, and happier East Texas. The Healthy Me, Healthy Babies coalition consists of around 40 members who are focused on increasing community outreach, collaboration efforts, systemic change, and maternal mental health. Each member of the Healthy Me, Healthy Babies coalition provides valuable input and skills to our collaborative effort. Members help provide pregnant and postpartum women with access to resources, assist with the development of evidence-based tools, and implement services to help every baby have a happy and healthy first birthday.
Here are just a few of the benefits of partnering with us.
We are not just a resource hub for women. We’re also a network of organizations and individuals who help one another achieve a common goal - to fight for women and children in our community. We believe in being generous with our resources because what benefits one of us benefits our society at large.
No one makes a positive impact alone. That’s why at Healthy Me, Healthy Babies, we believe in the power of numbers. We need each other to have a lasting effect on our community, and you are a vital part of that.
We all have a “why.” Ours is to give moms and babies a healthy and happy future. By partnering with us, you are helping transform East Texas one step at a time.
When you partner with Healthy Me, Healthy Babies, you earn a free spot to advertise your relevant events and resources in our monthly newsletters.
That’s right, free. So join this fight with us and help us make East Texas a healthy community for local families.
As a member, your role is to collaborate with other organizations and individuals to improve the health of moms, dads, and children in East Texas. We accomplish this goal by sharing, developing, and distributing resources, education, tools, and interventions.
We encourage our members to participate in our activities, including attending our monthly meetings and events as often as your schedule allows. We’ll also help you get involved in workgroups and even serve as a leader for a workgroup if elected by members. If you lead a workgroup, you will also serve in the executive workgroup.
Agencies and organizations may select one or multiple people within their organization to serve as representatives. However, only one representative can vote on behalf of the agency.
The Healthy Me, Healthy Babies coalition meets every third Monday of the month from 11:45AM - 1 PM via zoom. Email Justice to recieve zoom link.
Every month, we conduct a training on a topic that pertains to infant mortality, collaborative efforts, and/or local community organizations. All our meetings are open to the public, free to attend. If you want more information, please contact us. Come and invite a friend. We'll see you there!
